RESEARCH INTERESTS

I am an applied econometrician, especially in the field of urban land use change and other aspects of urbanization. I am contributing to extend the field of applied econometrics by incorporating into it state-of-the-art techniques such as geospatial data and analysis (including remote sensing), spatial econometric modeling, Bayesian inference, and statistical computing.

Urbanization is one of great issues in our time. Our society needs to have a better understanding of urbanization process through active research efforts and apply the results to urbanization-related policies for environment, sustainable society and development. I am currently working on modeling of urban land use change process both in spatial and time dimensions, focusing on how policies affect the process.
